I've been busy? Riiiiight.... ok, I've been lazy. And bummed. Yes, too bummed to write.
Ever mostly hate your life? Yeah, that's what the past almost year has been like. Getting better now. No, not a bout with clinical depression - just massive dissatisfaction. I haven't been depressed about anything that I shouldn't be depressed about, just haven't exactly been dealing with stuff the 'proper' way. It's easier to gripe about it and feel sorry for myself.
I'm impressed tho - I do still love spinning. Most new hobbies peter out after a bunch of months, but I still feel weird without a spindle in my hands. I can't remember life without spinning.
The main projects right now are a single ply lace/sportweight merino superwash in "New Silver". This colour is fantastic, it changes with my mood. It varies from light mauve to slate grey, depending how I look at it. Nope, not variegated, just a wonderful colour that refuses to be pinned down long enough to be defined. To point out the colour perfectly, look up on a sunny summer day - look at a big fluffy cloud. Look at the shadowed wrinkly part - not the bottom, that's too dark. One of the shadows near the top of the cloud. That sort of purply white grey misty not really a colour thing... yeah, pretty! It's going to be a shrug for work. It's always cold there.
The other project is a really fine laceweight (24-26 WPI) 2-ply. One side is silk (not tussah, I'm a murderer for this project) and the other side is 80% organic cotton/20% hemp. I'm leaving it the natural colour. It's going to be something fantastically lacy and light. I just need to decide a pattern for it. I started one pattern, but it wasn't right for the yarn. It just looked messy. Even after blocking, it would have been very amateur looking. Oh well, I'll find something.
